Coming in early 2009, the new documentary “A Sea Change” will be having a world premiere.
###
“Imagine a world without fish: It seems inconceivable. But top scientists warn that such a catastrophe may in fact play out in coming generations unless widespread awareness is raised to stop ocean acidification.
A Sea Change will focus public attention on this urgent but little-known crisis. It follows retired educator and concerned grandfather Sven Huseby back to stunning ancestral sites (Norway, Alaska the Pacific Northwest) where he finds cutting-edge ocean research underway. His journey of self-discovery brings adventure, surprise and revelation to the hard science of acidification. ”

“If you can, imagine a vehicle that runs on air, achieves over 100 gas-equivalent mpg and over 90 mph, has zero to low C02 emissions, seats six, has plenty of space for luggage, cuts no safety corners, and costs no more than an average economy to mid-size vehicle.
This is the expected performance of the revolutionary compressed air vehicle that Zero Pollution Motors (ZPM) is introducing to North America. The vehicle is powered by the Compressed Air Engine (CAE) developed by Motor Development International (MDI), a 15-year old company based in Nice, France, and headed by inventor and Formula One race car engineer, Guy Negre. ZPM is the exclusive representative for MDI in the United States.”

Here is the report from the Discovery Channel….

This “breath of fresh air” is revolutionary technology and it is proving to be one of the most innovative, clean and affodable solutions for your transportation and the rising cost of fuel. Last time I checked their was plenty of air and no one was taxing it.
In our local area, Nantucket, MA, we are about to be graced with a lecture from Shiva Vencat, CEO of Zero Pollution Motors, the group that will distribute cars that use compressed-air technology (”CAT”) will speak at the Unitarian Meeting House at 4 pm Sunday, Sept. 28. CAT cars, which are already being tested in taxi fleets in Europe, essentially running on air. A modest amount of another energy source is needed to compress the air, and American cars will have several options: electricity, gasoline, biofuels. In-town operating conditions allow the CAT car to generate its own electricity (through braking, like a hybrid) to run an on-board compressor, and at speeds under 35 miles per hour the car doesn’t need re-fueling. At higher speeds, using conventional gas stations to fill the tank with gasoline to run the compressor (the least green scenario), the 6-passenger car gets more than 100 miles per gallon and goes up to 96 mph.

From Wired.com:
“Pininfarina’s had a rough time of it lately, what with its huge debt and the death of its CEO. But now that it’s gotten a little breathing room from its creditors, the famed Italian coach builder is proceeding with plans for an electric car it will unveil at the Paris Motor Show.
Pininfarina is developing the car with French battery company Bollore and says it will be available in Europe, Japan and America by the end of 2010. The two companies are keeping the four-seater’s design under wraps for now, but let’s hope it looks more like the Sintesi (pictured) concept Pininfarina brought to the Geneva auto show last spring and less like the boxy Blue Car concept that Bollore unveiled two years ago.”

“Every religion emphasizes human improvement, love, respect for others, sharing other people’s suffering. On these lines every religion had more or less the same viewpoint and the same goal.”
~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Religious groups, as well as non-theistic ethical systems, differ greatly in their beliefs and practices. There is, however, a common thread that runs through them all. Each of these systems of belief has some example of the Ethic of Reciprocity in their teachings. The most common version of this is known as:
The Golden Rule
“Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.”

Seventh-grader shines with solar cell research
William Yuan won a $25,000 scholarship for his graduate level work
BY CHRISTINA LENT - The Beaverton Valley Times
###
Yuan worked on his project for the past two years with the encouragement of his science teacher Susan Duncan; support of his parents Gang Yuan and Zhiming Mei; and counsel of professional mentors Professor Chunfei Li of Portland State University’s Center for Nanofabrication and Electron Microscopy, Fred Li of Applied Materials Inc. and Professor Shaofan Li of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of California – Berkeley.
“He is our youngest fellow in science that we’ve ever had,” Moessner said. “He is really spectacular.
“His project will really make a difference in advancing the technology of solar cells. You would never know he’s 12 looking at the quality of his work.”
“Current solar cells are flat and can only absorb visible light,” he said. “I came up with an innovative solar cell that absorbs both visible and UV light. My project focused on finding the optimum solar cell to further increase the light absorption and efficiency and design a nanotube for light-electricity conversion efficiency.”
“This generation’s sense of urgency is much stronger than my generation’s,” his father said. “They are thinking about the future and want to know how environmental issues will impact their generation.”

Director Kim Kindersley proudly announces the release of the long awaited film - Whaledreamers
With the current concerns over global warming and the future of humanity seemingly hanging in the balance comes a story of hope, awakening and reconciliation.
Whaledreamers is the heartfelt story of the return of an aboriginal whale dreaming tribe from the edge of extinction and the equally, long journey of the whales, not only to survive the slaughter by man, but to engage the human race into waking up in time.
At a time when our collective consciousness is focused on issues pertaining to our indigenous ancestors and the fragile state of our environment, comes a powerful film, which unites four people from very different cultures. One a song man from a dispossessed aboriginal tribe, Bunna Lawrie; another, a filmmaker from a distant land, British director, Kim Kindersley; the third, musician and activist, Julian Lennon, and lastly acclaimed Australian actor and story teller, Jack Thompson.
Over fifteen years in the making, across five continents and oceans, Whaledreamers is a personal odyssey for British filmmaker, Kim Kindersley in his quest to find his spiritual roots, while experiencing the extraordinary connection, both ancient and modern, between humanity and the cetaceans.
“Indigenous wisdom has never been more relevant for humanity than now” Julian Lennon
This thought provoking film makes its World Premiere at The Hayden Orpheum, Cremorne September 17

Our vision in the Powur of Citizenre is so much more than what we could do alone, and so much more than the money. I was just sharing this again with a new Ecopreneur last night… and felt once again, the intense “juice” flowing through our collective vision… just like I do as I am writing this. Call me crazy, or whatever, I don’t really care. I know what we have together is going to make history.
When you are focused on the lack of things, and recognize that contrast creates new desires that can inspire you to new thoughts that can bring out talents that may have been dormant. By focusing on what you want in life you can transform your reality. And in so doing inspire others to appreciate not only what they have but what they can be.
One very focused man, Clay Dyer, turned his reality into an inspiration for all to appreciate. Watching this video could be the most precious 10 minutes of your day.
Hoping to fish for your best thoughts!
In-joy,
Bruce
